Life Cycle of a Butterfly ( First post of the year)

Talofa Lava! This is my first post of 2024!

Last week, me and my class have been learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. So we did some writing about it. Eggs, Larva, Pupa and Butterfly are the different types of stages of a butterfly.

Writing:

Eggs:

When female butterflies lay their eggs, they lay them on a leaf. When the female butterfly lays the eggs, the Larva/Caterpillar slowly starts to grow in the egg. Once the Caterpillar grows, it eats the egg to set free. They can also just hatch the egg.

Larva:

Once the Larva eats/hatch themselves out, it goes and eats leaves. They eat a lot! Most of us call it Caterpillars. Larva’s/Caterpillars have lots of legs. More than four legs! Once the Caterpillar continues to eat, they will get bigger and bigger until their skin sheds. When they shed, their skin slips right off. When they’re finished,  they turn into Pupa!

Pupa:

Fun fact, Pupa’s are also called Chrysalis and Cocoons. Once they transform, they hang upside down on a branch just like a bat. When they hang, they stay still so their predators like birds don’t come and eat them. After that, their wings break free into a Butterfly!

Butterfly:

Once the butterfly is free, it goes and flies all around sunny days. Butterflies love to eat the nectar from flowers. Lots of butterflies come in different types of colours. Butterflies then lay eggs and the life cycle starts all over again.

My Creative Story- Nowhere to be found..

Talofa Lava Bloggers!

Me and my class have written some Creative writing last week. We had to make a google doc and make our plan. We also had to choose a genre to write about. I chose horror because I had an idea in my head which was related to horror. My writing is kind of long so it might take you a while to read it.

Here is my plan and story:

Plan

Settings: Forest, Haunted house and School

Characters: Layla, Crystal, Sariyah, Loiloi and Pita

BME: They all asked their parents if they could go to the forest then end up getting lost then Sariyah and her dad tried to look for them and ended up not being found.

Writing:

Title: Nowhere to be found..

Once Upon A Time there was this friend group where they all lived in a neighborhood with a forest beside their houses. BUT what they didn’t know was that the forest was HAUNTED. One day during maths, they were planning to go to the forest next week on the weekends. “Sure! I’ll ask my mum” says Layla.

“I’ll ask my mum as well,” said Pita. “Sorry I can’t come,” said Sariyah,” maybe next time.” Crystal giggled. “Me and Loiloi already asked our parents yesterday before we planned it!” They all laughed. Layla is the girl who is always happy, Crystal is the girl who likes hanging out with her friends a lot, Sariyah is the one who likes vibing a lot, Loiloi is the quiet one most times and Pita is the funny one sometimes.

The next day they said all of their parents agreed. One week later on Friday, the friend group started packing their bags with snacks, torches and a knife just in case something goes wrong. The next day, which was Saturday, the whole friend group including Sariyah, stood outside their houses waiting for each other. “See you guys later and have fun!” Says Sariyah.

They then started to walk over to the forest. Bats flying past, spiders swinging on their webs. Loiloi screams. “Sorry I just saw an army of cockroaches sprint past.” “Wow, that’s the first time I heard you scream” Says Layla. Crystal gags. “Sorry I saw a spider.” “The eyes make me disgusted.” They then continued their journey in the HAUNTED forest. As they got half way through the forest, Pita says “wait what’s that?” as he wipes his eyes thinking it’s his imagination. They saw a dark grey house in their sight walking further and further into the forest. “Should we go explore the house..?” Askes Layla. “Why not?” Says Pita. They all then sprinted to the haunted house. All of them entered the house. The floor and the doors creak. As they entered, they could smell something rotten. They were looking in the kitchen and they saw a dead rat sitting on the sink. “Ewww yuck!” Says Crystal. Layla got a tissue out of her bag, picked up the rat by its tail and threw it outside the window. As Loiloi walks up the stairs the stairs creak. “Yup I’m not going up there unless someone comes with me” Says Loiloi. “I will come” says Pita. Pita and Loiloi walk up the stairs. While Loiloi and Pita were exploring upstairs, Layla and Crystal were having a little snack. “Ok let’s go back to exploring,” Says Crystal. As they were exploring they found a random door behind one of the couches. “Should we open it?” Askes Layla. “No, let’s wait for Loiloi and Pita to come back because it might be dangerous” Says Crystal. “The floor is so dusty” Says Layla. Meanwhile with Loiloi and Pita, they found a room with a very dusty bed. Pita looked out the window and saw a shadow on one of the bushes. “Loiloi RUN” Loiloi and Pita ran down the stairs. “Don’t do that ever again you guys scared me with the loud creaks” Says Layla. “Sorry but I SAW A SHADOW IN THE BUSH” Says Pita. “I never thought that this house would be haunted” Says Crystal. “Anyways me and Crystal found a door behind the couch and we wanted to wait for you guys to come” Says Layla. “Ok, let’s explore it now,” Says Loiloi. They removed the couch and opened the door. “I can see something in their..” Says Pita. “Come guys lets go inside” Says Crystal. “Uhh I don’t think it’s a good idea, ” says Layla. “Stop being scared and face your fear” replied Crystal. “Ok fine” Says Layla. They all entered the door. Loiloi and Pita watched Crystal and Layla get dragged by the arm into the door. “UHH WE HAVE TO RUN” Says Loiloi. “No, we have to go save them,” Says Pita. Pita takes out the knife out of his bag and holds it in his hand while he enters. Pita felt the knife get slapped out of his hand and get dragged in. Loiloi runs to the front door immediately. The door shuts close. Loiloi screams. She then gets dragged on all that dust into the basement, and the basement door shuts. Two hours passed and Sariyah was waiting for the group outside. Sariyah turns around to her dad and says “Dad I don’t think they’re coming back..” “Should we go look for them?” asked Sariyah. “Ok” Answers Sariyah’s dad. As they got halfway through, they saw a man with a black jumper with his hood holding a knife standing in front of the haunted house. “No it’s not safe were just gonna have to call the police” Says Sariyah’s dad. They walked back home and called the police. The police couldn’t do anything because they couldn’t find them so they were never to be seen or heard from since that day..

Through The Lens Writing

Kia Ora Bloggers!

On Monday, our teacher Mrs Patel, gave us some writing to do. The title was Through The Lens. It was about an Otter named Ozzy, and his biggest dream was to become the best photographer. She told us to go to the class site and go to the reading and writing page and click on writing prompts. It had a story starter, sentence starters and a word bank. the word bank really helped me with my writing. It was also a fiction story. There was already a story there so we had the choice to finish it off or make our own story. But I wrote the last sentence and then I finished it off. I kinda struggled with trying to think of ideas. My favourite part was finding beautiful adjectives.

Here’s my story:

Determined to prove himself, Ozzy embarked on a quest to capture an image so extraordinary that even Hiram would be impressed. As Ozzy ventured deeper into the forest, he stumbled upon a stack of twigs. Ozzy got back up on his two feet feeling red faced, but kept on going. Ozzy’s dream was to become the best photographer! The sun’s golden rays danced through the leaves, illuminating a dazzling, shiny bright tree! Ozzy was filled with so much joy that he jumped up and down. As the wind blew the leaves, Ozzy’s camera shutter clicked, taking a prize winning photo of the dazzling tree getting blown by the wind. Ozzy took 3 photos of the tree and started the march away trying to find another dazzling thing to capture.

To be continued…

My Amazing School Holiday

Kia Ora Bloggers!

My Holiday<3

In the holidays I didn’t really go out, I just stayed home but I actually enjoyed staying home spending time with my family. One day when my dad was at work he called my mum and asked what we were going to have for dinner. After he asked my mum he then told my mum to tell me to start peeling the potatoes. Then I got off the couch and went to the kitchen to start peeling. While I was peeling the potatoes my dad finally came home. When my dad came home he helped me with the potatoes. After we peeled them my mum asked me to rinse the potatoes with cold water. Secondly my mum started to cut them but then I asked if I could do it because I knew I was going to get bored and so she let me. First she showed me how to cut it then I tried. But before I even started cutting it my  mum gave me a smaller knife to cut it with. After I cut it my mum then started to boil it. When it was finished boiling we let it cool down on the window. After it cooled down me and my sister added some milk, butter, salt, and pepper. Then we started to mash it. I felt very happy and excited because I love to cook. It’s just too fun for me!
